Musical Director Malcolm Boulter will lead the choir in a performance of the Norwegian composer Ola Gjeilo’s ‘Sunrise Mass’, commissioned and first performed in 2008. This is a lovely piece, both to sing and to listen to, of which the composer has said that he wanted something “warm and solid – as a metaphor for human development from child to adult, or as a spiritual journey.” The choir will also perform Gounod’s ‘St Cecilia Mass’, a beautifully lyrical piece, composed in 1855, known as a homage to St Cecilia, the patron saint of music. The choir will be accompanied by The Kingfisher Sinfonietta led by Beth Spendlove, with the Society’s accompanist David Leveridge joining in on the organ. Do come along to St Luke’s and enjoy these beautiful and very approachable works. There will be a raffle (£1 a strip) and refreshments will be served in the interval (donations appreciated). Programmes will be on sale. Any queries, phone 01206 734625 for more information. Tickets cost £15 for adults, £5 for students over 16, accompanied children under 16 are free. We look forward to your company! Further information from contact@tiptreechoral.uk Please download a poster
